The Problem

Whenever you visit your task list it is impossible not to see other pending tasks yet to be completed, this is where many people get stuck - either they are then unable to concentrate on the current task as their mind is filled with future tasks or, and this is very common, they are so stunned by the quantity of outstanding tasks that they are overwhelmed and simply stop moving forward.

The Solution

Rather than considering your task list every time you look at it to discover your next task, we have found if you retrieve the task(s) for a period of time - such as only for now, this hour, this morning, this afternoon, or today - you will focus on them much better. These are the "Drips" that you have retrieved to focus.

Initially you should do this with a single task from one task list only, so you can really focus on the here and now and what you have to accomplish within a very specific period of time.

Take your task, and visualise it as a Drip of paint that, unless you complete it within your allotted time frame, will splat on the carpet and require a great deal of time effort to clean up - probably even more time than would have been required to complete the task itself!

As you become used to approaching your tasks this way you will be able to progress to having multiple "Motivation Drips" on the go at any one time for differing projects, but don't rush ahead to that stage yet.
